On the near-field interaction of vertically offset turbulent plumes

The flow in and around a pair of plumes from sources that are vertically horizontally offset is investigated. An analytical potential model developed using an adapted version the Milne–Thomson circle theorem to represent due adjacent circular point sinks. This approximates horizontal section through plumes, which have differing radii at same vertical position. predictions this compared against Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) simulations system. These yield time-averaged results so particularly suitable for investigating relatively weak entrainment field. Single double plume RANS also presented compare with known results. Good agreement found between features numerical solutions including location stagnation two plumes.
